Perfume River

The Perfume River, also called Huong River, flows crosses the city of Hue in Vietnam, famous for a spectacular view that flowers from orchards upriver from Hue fall into the water in the autumn, giving the river a perfume-like aroma.

Perfume River flows in south-north direction past Hon Chen Temple and Ngọc Tran Temple, then flowing north-west, meandering through the Nguyet Bieu and Luong Quan plains. Perfume River continues on to the north-east to Hue, passes the resting place of the Nguyen emperors, Hen islet and various villages, and crosses the Sinh junction before emptying into the Tam Giang lagoon. From Bang Lang to the Thuan An estuary, the river is 30km long and runs very slowly. The river darkens as it winds along the foot of Ngọc Tran Mountain, where there is a deep abyss.
