Mieu Island

Mieu Island (Hon Mieu), also called Tri Nguyen Island or Bong Nguyen Island, is touted in all the tourist as the site of an outdoor aquarium - Tri Nguyen Aquarium, which is really a highly creative work built in 1971 by Le Can, a fisherman who was fond of nature very much and proud of his homeland. In fact, the “aquarium” is an important fish-breeding farm, where over 40 species of fish, crustacean and other marine creatures are raised in three separate compartments. Visitors may take a walk around the lake or sit on the house close to the edge of the water to see various colorful sea-fish that live in the clear blue water of the lake. There is also a cafe built on stilts over the water.

Mieu Island is located in the southeast of Nha Trang city, half an hour from Cau Da port. The main village in Miew Island is Tri Nguyen. Bai Soai is a gravel beach on the far side of Mieu Island from Cau Da. Mieu Island also houses attractive Bai San Beach, one of the beaches. Many inhabitants on Mieu Island connect with mainland by small boats which transfer hundreds of people every day.
