Hoi An Ancient Town

Hoi An Ancient Town is a picturesque riverside town, 30km south of Danang. It is one of the most enchanting places along the coast and one spot worth lingering in. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage site, Hoi An Ancient Town now is governed by preservation laws.

Hoi An Ancient Town used to be occupied by early western traders and became one of the major trading centers of South East Asia in the 16th century. It has a distinct Chinese atmosphere with low, tile-roofed houses made of wood and narrow streets.

Originally, Hai Pho was a divided town with the Japanese settlement across the "Japanese Bridge" (16th-17th centuries). The bridge is a unique covered structure built by the Japanese, the only known covered bridge with a Buddhist pagoda attached to one side.
