Pindaya Cave

Pindaya Cave is a Buddhist pilgrimage site near Pindaya Town in Myanmar, housing three caves on a limestone ridge from north to south. Only the southern cave can be entered and explored, the other two caves are still mysterious for people.

Past Shwe U Min (Golden Cave) Pagoda, the southernmost Pindaya Cave can be entered and extend for a well-worn path of about 490 feet, famous for its amazing display inside which consists of over 8,000 images of Buddha. Some of the older statues and images in the cave have inscriptions dating back to the late 18th century. The whole Pindaya Cave is like an impressive iconography of Buddhism with a range of style and shows the distinctive art from early Konbaung era to the modern period.
