Pha That Luang

Having replaced the hammer and sickle even on the state seal, Pha That Luang is a gold-covered large Buddhist stupa, generally regarded as the most important national monument in Laos and a national symbol.

The architecture of Pha That Luang includes many references to Lao culture and identity, and so has become a symbol of Lao nationalism. The stupa today consists of three levels, each conveying a reflection of part of the Buddhist doctrine. From ground to pinnacle, Pha That Luang is 147.6 feet (44 metres) high.

Inside of Pha That Luang, amazing hand painted art works attract your eyes, which will put your mind in awe. Scattered around the temple well-cared grounds, there are also numerous statues of Buddha and deities. They are all life sized statues which are well crafted and dressed in bright saffron robes.
