Nam Ou River

Nam Ou River is one of the most important rivers in Laos, past Nong Khiaw, a rustic little town with great charm.

Nam Ou River runs 448km from Phongsaly Province to Luang Prabang Province, with picturesque natural landscape. Many fantastic limestone mountains are scattered along the riverside.

Along with the Mekong River, Nam Ou River is the only natural channel suitable for large-draft boat transportation.

Near its confluence with the Mekong River are the famous Pak Ou Caves, which is known for their Buddha statues.
