Khone Phapheng Waterfalls

Located in Champasak Province on the Mekong River in southern Laos, Khone Phapheng Waterfalls are considered the largest in Southeast Asia. 

It is characterized by thousands of islands and countless waterways, which gives the area its name Si Phan Don or “The Four Thousand islands”. Phan Don is home to the rare Irrawaddy dolphins, which can be seen at the southern tip of Don Khon.

Khone Phapheng Waterfalls are well known as the prime reason why the Mekong river is not fully navigable into China.
