- Customs and Taboos
As the saying ‘When in Rome, do as the Romans do’ said, to enjoy a smooth China tour, you are suggested to know about some common customs and taboos to help avoid embarrassing situations.
It is not suitable to use Bell & Clock, Chrysanthemum & Rose, and Green hat, etc, as gift for Chinese, as these represent some bad things in Chinese meaning.
Avoid saying anything related to death in a happy situation.
Respect for the relevant regulations and customs of Chinese many minorities
The table manners is another point you should pay attention to. Dishes are put together in a table and all the diners sit around it and share the dishes. You should help yourself to the food. The hostess or host may pick up food with chopsticks into your bowl, which is a sort of hospitality. You should take it as a sign of honor and offer thanks. You should always place chopsticks horizontally over your bowl. Do not lay them on the table or stick them vertically into the rice bowl as this is a sign of offering a sacrifice.
- Health Care
Good health is the premise of an enjoyable trip. Look after yourself carefully during the trip and try your best to minimize the risk of getting ill.
Health issues and the quality of medical facilities vary enormously depending on where and how you travel in China. Many of the major cities in China are now very well developed with a good health issue and high quality medical facilities, though traveling to other areas may expose you to a variety of health risks and inadequate medical care. Look after yourself carefully during the trip and try your best to minimize the risk of getting ill.
Altitude sickness: Some regions of China, including Tibet, Xinjiang, Sichuan and Yunnan have high altitudes. These can put strain on your health. People with heart disease or high blood pressure are advised not to go to these areas in view of the serious physical problems that can occur.
