Yangtze River & Three Gorges

Being the longest river in Asia and the 3rd in the world, the Yangtze River (also Changjiang, Yangzi or Yangtse) is one of the Mother Rivers of China which nurtured the profound history and culture of the Chinese people. Originated from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the Yangtze River cuts through Mt. Wushan (bordering Chongqing and Hubei Provinces) and creates the fabulous Three Gorges.

The Three Gorges include Qutang Gorge, Wu Gorge and Xiling Gorge. The region has a total length of about 200km and boasts both its scenery and historical and cultural importance. Qutang Gorge is best known for its grandeur, Wu Gorge for its serene beauty while Xiling Gorge for its thrilling danger.
