Old Market

Lying on the lakeside of Tonle Sap, Old Market of Siem Reap is well stocked with anything you may want to buy in Cambodia. Daily necessaries and traveling souvenir are supplied in the Old Market. The abundance of goods attracts numerous locals and tourists to visit. Silverware, silk, wood carvings, stone carvings modeling Angkorian architecture, Buddhas, paintings, rubbings, notes and coins, T-shirts, table mats…the list goes on. 

There are bargains to be had if you haggle patiently and humorously. Avoid buying old stone carvings that vendor claim are from Angkor. Whether they are real or not, they are usually confiscated by custom.

Surrounding the Old Market there are a lot of convenience stores, currency-exchange places and fruit shops, etc.
