National Museum of Cambodia

As Cambodia's largest museum of cultural history and the leading historical and archaeological museum, National Museum of Cambodia is built in 1917, located at the north of Royal Palace in Phnom Penh. It has a courtyard garden of graceful terracotta structure design with four pavilions surrounding.

National Museum is home to the world’s finest collection of Khmer sculpture – a millennia’s worth and more of masterful Khmer design. The Khmer art of Cambodia is showed by sculptural, ceramics, bronzes, and ethnographic objects. National Museum has become a source of pride and identity to the Cambodian people.

National Museum also contains many pottery and bronzes dating back to the Angkorian periods, and more recent works such as a beautiful wooden royal barge. There is a permanent collection of post-Angkorian Buddha images, many of which were rescued from Angkor Wat when the civil war erupted.
