National Museum
There is an old watchtower on the top of Paro Dzong, housing the National Museum which is a popular attraction for tourists and locals. It is a cultural museum built in 1968 in possession of over 3,000 works of Bhutanese art, covering more than 1,500 years of Bhutan's cultural heritage. Every floors of the museum has its unique feature that represents a remarkable blend of the past with the present in Bhutan.
The lower-floor galleries feature teapots, clothes, musical instruments, stuffed animal, plus religious ritual objects and display ancient weapons and shields, many captured during various Tibetan invasions. The 4th floor houses early stone implements, rock carvings and inscriptions which demonstrate how magic and science made effects in this country, while the 5th floor has an impressive collection of ancient and modern Thangkas describing all of Bhutan's important saints and teachers. And the Namse Lhakhang shows the religious statues and stone carvings. On the 6th floor displays Bhutan's philatelic collection, including some old stamps. At the end of the gallery lies the Tshozhing Lhakhang, a complex four-sided carving illustrating the history of Buddhism with its schools and lineages.
