Khamsum Yuelley Namgyel Chorten

Standing on one of the ridges in Punahkha Valley, Khamsum Yuelley Namgyel Chorten is one of Bhutan’s famous attractions, which is the unique monument to consecrate the Tulku (the Living Bhudha) throughout the world. It was about a 45 minute uphill hike past some rice paddies to reach the chorten. At the roof unfolds a wonderful 360 degree view of the Punakha Valley.

As a sacred pagoda to bless the Himalayan country and a symbol to avoid disasters, Khamsum Yuelley Namgyel Chorten is the only pagoda to serve all the Dhamapalas for peace and harmony in Bhutan. Each floor in the Chorten serves different god. It is said that the Shakyamuni Buddha at the top of tower once happened to speak a word.
